Giant Sewing Frame
The "giant" sewing frame was built in my shop for the Missouri Botanic Garden's Peter H. Raven Library Paper Conservation Laboratory specifically for re-sewing Bateman's Orchidaceae, a folio volume approximately 36 inches in height. Rather than creating a full size table, this clamps to an existing table-top, avoiding limits imposed by table size. As the screw columns can be easily removed, storage space is minimized. The frame can handle items up to 42 inches. While the upper bar of shorter frames is usually wooden, steel rod was used here for rigidity.
